Stop At: Valley of the Kings, Luxor City, Luxor 85511 Egypt
You will be driven from Hurghada through the eastern desert. Upon arrival at Luxor, your experienced tour guide will take you on a tour to the western bank where the ancient Egyptians noted that the sun goes down, darkness and silence falls so they selected the west bank to build their tombs and be the city of death. You will start your tour with a visit to the Valley of the Kings. The pharaohs selected this isolated and remote ravine to be their final resting place to keep their tombs out of sight and protect them against tomb robbery. There are 62 tombs; each tomb has a number that represents the order in which it was discovered. The tombs are decorated with colorful paintings and religious scenes. You can visit 3 of them (the Tomb of Tutankhamen is an extra cost).
Duration: 2 hours
Stop At: Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, Kings Valley Rd, Qesm Al Wahat Al Khargah, New Valley Governorate, Egypt
Visit the temple of Queen Hatshepsut with its unique design – the only temple in Egypt built in terrace formation into the cliff face. The relief sculpture within the temple recites the tale of the divine birth of a female pharaoh – the first of its kind, along with the first commercial trading expedition to the ancient land of Punt (today’s Somalia) to exchange goods and bring incense of good quality used during the religious rituals inside the temples .
Then visit the two colossal statues of Memnon. They were a part of a compete temple. The rest of the temple disappeared because of Nile inundation. The two statues represent the king sitting on his throne with all signs of royalty. Move to the east bank, have your lunch and visit the two temples.
Duration: 2 hours
Stop At: Temple of Karnak, Luxor Egypt
On the east bank you will visit Karnak temple ( the largest religious site in the world and the place where all the kings and queens of ancient Egypt found it an honor to build and add a building bearing their names inside this great temple so it was built and modified over more than 2000 years). Everything here is on a gigantic scale. You will marvel at the great hypostyle hall where there is unforgettable forest of 134 gigantic columns.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Luxor Temple, Luxor 23512 Egypt
Your next stop will be Luxor temple whose outer part was built by Ramses II and decorated with military scenes narrating his famous battle against the Hittites. There once were 2 obelisks adorning the façade. Only one of them remains standing! The other was transported, in 1819, to La Place de le Concorde in Paris, as a gift to King Philip Louis of France from Mohamed Ali pasha. This temple also houses many columns, statues and various artifacts.
Say goodbye to your guide and continue the drive back to your hotel in Hurghada.
