Full-Day Iquitos City Tour

Our day will start with a visit to Iquitos City Center. You will have the opportunity to see many big houses that were left from the Rubber Boom Age. There is also the Casa de Fierro (Iron House) that was designed by Gustav Eiffel back in 1887, and a walk through the river front boulevard (Malecon Tarapaca) with a view to the “Itaya River”.

Belen Floating Market is our next stop. Belen is a popular neighborhood with floating houses, here we will visit this popular market via canoe to see the villagers that come from the jungle to sell their fruit, fish and other products.

Pilpintuwasi Butterfly Farm - We will travel via private boat to visit this place full of beautiful butterflies and full of Flowers with small waterfalls. Enjoy the magic world of butterflies seeing the complete life cycle and learn about their development. The word “Pilpintuwasi” in the Quechua language means “butterfly’s home”. The farm hosts 42 species of butterfly and the corresponding fruits, flowers and leaves on which they feed. Some of the more remarkable of the species are the blue morpho and the tattered winged buho, or owl butterfly, as well as some poison-haired caterpillars.

Maniti Rescue Center (IIAP) is located on the highway Iquitos-Nauta IIAP is a research center of biology responsible for the rescue of the manatees. The Manatee Rescue Center is ran by a group of volunteers who are trying to save these animals from extinction. You can participate in their feeding, while they are being reintroduced to the wild.

Finally we'll visit Quistococha Zoological Park. Quistococha was first opened in 1979. It is a National Park with a land area of more than 369 acres and the lagoon is 56 acres. Quistococha is located about 6.5 KMs outside of Iquitos, located on the Iquitos – Nauta Highway. The zoo houses many animals indigenous to the Amazon Rainforest Basin and includes, jaguars, tapirs, pumas, monkeys, jungle rodents, alligators, giant otters, snakes and a large collection of macaws and other birds native to this area.
