5-Night Wonderful Istanbul and Cappadocia Tour

Day 1: Istanbul

Upon arrival to Istanbul, meet a driver for transfer to your hotel then enjoy a free afternoon. Overnight at Recital Hotel.

Day 2: Istanbul (B, L)

After breakfast, tour Topkapi Palace, the historic residence of Ottoman sultans, then continue to the Hippodrome, the Blue Mosque, the Underground Cistern or Nakkas Cistern, and Hagia Sophia, a magnificent church that's decorated with colorful frescoes. Browse for handicrafts and souvenirs among the thousands of stalls at the covered market. Overnight in Recital Hotel.

Day 3: Istanbul (B)

After breakfast, set out for a half-day cruise on the Bosphorus (weather dependent) then visit the Spice Bazaar, among the biggest markets in the city. Following the tour, enjoy free time to explore on your own. Overnight in Recital Hotel. 

Day 4: Istanbul – Kayseri – Cappadocia (B, L)

Transfer to the airport for an early morning flight to Kayseri or Nevsehir (flights own expense).

Upon arrival, visit Rose Valley, among the most beautiful trekking valleys in Cappadocia, and hike to historic churches that are carved straight into solid rock. Take a break in Cavusin, an old Greek village known for its Christian houses and churches. After lunch, continue to Ortahisar Castle, a natural fortress that's honeycombed with caves and shelters. 

The next stop is Kaymakli Underground City, a sprawling complex where local people lived and worked during tumultuous times, then you'll see Pigeon Valley, where the people of Cappadocia once raised birds. If desired, you'll have the option to stop at a local winery to sample Cappadocia wine. Overnight in Cappadocia Lodge Hotel.

Day 5: Cappadocia (B, L)

Early Morning Option: If desired, you may book a hot air balloon tour.

Meet a driver at the hotel for departure between 9:30am and 10am, then take in a landscape of fairy chimneys in the Devrent Valley. Continue to Pasabagi, or Monk’s Valley, then drive to Avanos, a center for red clay pottery since ancient times. The red clay which is

worked by local craftsmen comes from the residue in the Kizilirmak river, the longest river of Turkey.

Pause for lunch and make the first stop of the afternoon at the Goreme Open Air Museum, visiting churches, chapels and monasteries carved into stone and decorated with beautiful frescoes. Enjoy some free time to shop before returning to your hotel. Overnight in Cappadocia Lodge Hotel.

Day 6: Cappadocia / Kayseri – Departure (B)

After breakfast transfer to the airport in Kayseri, where this five-night tour concludes.
