Half Day Ottoman Relics Tour: Sultan Tombs, Topkapi Palace

The Ottomans were as serious about their art and decoration in death as they were in life. Tucked around the back of Hagia Sophia, accessible through a separate side entrance, is a small courtyard ringed by several small buildings that look like mini mosques. There are five tombs of sultans: Sultan Selim II, Sultan Murad III, Sultan Mehmed III, Sultan Mustafa I, Sultan Ibrahim I. Once you step inside they're every bit as opulent as the most ornate imperial Ottoman mosque.

Topkapi Palace-It was residence of the Ottoman sultans for almost 400 years. Palace complex consists of four main courtyards, important relics of the Muslim world, Muhamed’s clock and sword. Set on top the most visible hill of Istanbul, Topkapi Palace, is the symbol of the city. Opulent, decadent and steeped in history, it offers visitors a chance to get to know the Sultans of the Ottoman Empire rather more intimately.
