Why birding??
Treasuring moments through engaging nature. Birding has become the fastest growing outdoor activity worldwide. In the past were a hand full of retires but now days’ Young people as early as 8 years of age are observing our feathery friends more and more.
Birding has it all, while watching birds there are always other wildlife around, how many dozens of time I have been seeking for birds while an Ocelot passes by or an anteater lays dormant up on the tree branches. At a very slow pace we will travel short distances between Herradura Bay, Jaco and Hermosa Beach’s wildlife sanctuary. From abandoned pasture fields to thick forest patches we will cover some of the most common and colourful species.
We will provide to each participant an excellent pair of binoculars, a field guide, a check list and lots of field experience accumulated for more than 30 years.
Our lead guides are passionate, patient but most of all knowledgeable. They have inspired thousands of worldwide visitors.
The journey begins with an early start at 6 am pick up time until 10:30 am approx.; we will travel up and down the coast, rivers and other habitats in order to make sure we cover most bird groups and families. Shortly after gathering your naturalist will teach you basic techniques for birdwatching such as bird approach, ethics, and above all teach how to observe.
First stop will be a nearby forested habitat on where motmots, trogons, antbirds, herons, hawks and parrots co-exist, the area is open grounds a very little walking to do therefore is suitable for even physically restricted and kids older than 10. Following this 2 hour we will continue onto more farm land where isolated birds are dwelling, it will be a beat faster pace and those species are likely to show up more easily. By the end of our short birding journey we will travel to Hermosa Beach a world renowned surfing spot looking for Macaws, Falcons, Spoonbills, elusive migrants and much more.
