With local
About this activity
Meet home-chef Sharmilla at her home in Vaishalli Nagar, Jaipur. She will welcome you with a welcoming smile and refreshing drink called Raab which is a traditional Rajasthani soup made with millets. Following this you can head to her kitchen and learn to make some tasty Rajasthani gravies from scratch. Right from cutting the ingredients to putting the masalas, it will all be done by you with Sharmilla guiding you on how to go about it. Post the cooking session, you can sit back relax and enjoy the scrumptious meal with Sharmilla and her family.
The menu may include some well-know Rajasthani dishes like Besan aur Palak ke Pakore (Fried gram flour and spinach fritters), Panchmel Daal (Preparation using five types of lentils), Smoked Baingan ka Bharta (Roasted and mashed eggplant curry, finished with indigenous smoking technique), Kadhai Paneer (Cottage cheese and green capsicum in a tomato based gravy). These will be accompanied with Ghee ka Phulka (Puffed whole wheat flatbread with clarified butter), Puri (Fried whole wheat Indian bread) and also Pulav (Rice preparation with vegetables and spices). For dessert, Sharmilla will serve you with a delicious Halwa (wheat pudding with almonds and cardamom).
Please Note - This is not a professional cooking class but rather an opportunity to cook and dine with a local. The experience will be as much about the stories around the food and local culture, as it would be about the meal itself.
