Pushkar, an enchanting small town located exactly on the edge of the desert but is separated from it by Nag Pahar, the Snake Mountain. Pushkar is one of the oldest cities known in the dunes of time. Upon arrival in Pushkar, you'll get the company of a local person to avoid the hassle when you go to visit the temple and ghats.
Brahma Temple, this is the only temple of the god Brahma in the world. No pilgrimage of Hindu places is considered complete till the pilgrim bathes in sacred waters of Pushkar. Enjoy a walking tour to visit the bustling ghats and observe daily life. You can also go a good retail therapy - a good mix of ethnic and hippie culture reflects in Pushkar market.
In the evening, head for the Savitri hilltop – south west of the lake. It's a moderate hike of around 1.5 km. Located on the top is the Savitri Devi Temple dedicated to the wife of Lord Brahma. The breathtaking panoramic view of Pushkar town from here is worth the effort and you get an amazing sunset view from the temple. Laying on the shore of the Pushkar Lake, this place lights up with the unnerving view of the lake and the hums & prayers that can be heard during the evening.
Bid farewell to this holy city before you hit your way back to Jaipur early evening.
