About this activity

You will be picked up from your hotel in Jaipur at 6am by your driver in an air conditioned vehicle, and after a drive of about 4 hours, you will arrive to the Keoladeo National Park. Here, you will meet your guide who will be prepared with pre-purchased tickets.

You will start the National Park Tour by choosing to ride a rickshaw or to ride your own bicycle. Your friendly guide will first show you the different points where you can see the many birds and will also assist you in taking good photos for your memories.

In the park you can see various species of resident and migratory birds along with some wild animals. You can also see a great number of trees and plant life in the National Park. After a visit of approximately 2.5 hours in the park, your guide will drop you back to the parking lot where your vehicle and driver will be waiting for you.

At 2pm, your driver will take you to a nearby restaurant where you can enjoy a 1-hour lunch break (optional and at own cost). By 3pm, you will continue on your return journey to Jaipur.

At 7pm, you will be dropped back to your hotel or resort in Jaipur where the tour concludes.

I had a wonderful day visiting the Keoladeo National Park. I was picked up promptly at my hotel, and though it was a three hour plus drive to the park, the driver, Bharat, was wonderful company, and the time passed quickly. At the park, we were met by the guide and the rickshaw driver and for the next few hours we rode, and walked, through the park. The guide was very knowledgeable, and not only spotted the birds but identified the best place to stand to get good pictures. We saw dozens of species and I was able to get memorable photos. Though we saw more visitors towards the end, the park wasn't crowded, and for long stretches we had the paths, and the birds, to ourselves. The ride back to Jaipur also passed quickly -- we were lucky with traffic -- and I was back at my hotel by 5 pm. Anyone who loves birds must visit this park, and if you are lucky enough to get Bharat as your driver, you will have the opportunity to learn a lot about Indian life and culture as well.
