About this activity
After pickup from your Jaipur hotel, travel out of the city by private, air-conditioned vehicle to the
Amber Fort.
On route, hear about this sandstone fort, situated in the Aravali Hills. Constructed in 1592 by Raja Man Singh, the vast edifice incorporates well-preserved courtyards, royal apartments, halls, and gardens.
Head inside (own expense), and opt to walk or ride an elephant (additional cost) to the gate. Then, take a walking tour around the halls, courts, gardens, and chambers. Admire the apartments adorned with reliefs, panels, and frescoes as your guide shares their history, and marvel at highlights including the exquisite, mirror-covered Hall of Mirrors.
Explore
Jal Mahal, island palace on Man Sagar Lake. Here, visit the
City Palace (own expense), a complex of chambers, pavilions, and the inner Chandra Mahal and Mubarak Mahal palaces. Take in the gates, museums, and palaces, and then visit UNESCO-listed
Jantar Mantar,
the site of 19 royal astronomical instruments built in 1734. View the instruments, including the world’s oldest sundial, and later, stop for photos by the 18th-century
Palace of Winds (Hawa Mahal), before finishing with a hotel drop-off.
