Built by a famous prostitute in the 14th century, Tilon ki Pol has an interesting story behind it. When she proposed to build it, the maharawal refused as it would be below his dignity to walk under it. But the prostitute built is anyway when he was out of town, and also built a Krishna Temple on to so that he could not destruct it.

Stop At: Jaisalmer Folklore Museum, Meher Bagh Garden, Garsisar Lake, Jaisalmer 345001 India

Founded in 1894, the Folklore Museum is placed on the banks of Gadsisar Lake in the Mehar Bagh Garden and is one of the most famous tourist attractions in the city. The museum is a treasure house and an amazing showcase of the heritage as well as the history of the city.

Stop At: Salim Singh-ki Haveli, Near Jaisalmer Fort, Jaisalmer India

Built in 1815 by Salim Singh, the prime minister of the Jaisalmer Kingdom, the mansion represents architecture at its best. Made of just Stone and Iron, the architecture of this mansion is inspired by dancing peacock and has 38 carved balconies.

A combination of five different havelis, each with its own stories, Patwaon ki Haveli is one of the most famous tourist spots in Jaisalmer. Made of yellow sandstone, and unique architecture, the haveli definitely stands out.

Stop At: The Thar Heritage Museum, Near Bhatia News Agency Gandhi Chowk, Jaisalmer 345001 India

Preserving Jaisalmer’s history and culture, this is a private museum founded by historian and folklorist LN Khatri. Jaisalmer artefacts, from turbans, musical instruments, fossils and kitchen equipment, to displays on birth, marriage, death and opium customs can be easily found here.

Stop At: Nathmal Ji Ki Haveli, Center Of The City Opp, Nathmal Haveli, Jaisalmer 345001 India

This 19th century haveli was built by two architect brothers, who designed their sections independently but with remarkable harmony. The exterior is beautifully carved, and the interior is decorated with miniature paintings. Two yellow sandstone elephant figures guard the entrance to the haveli.

Badal means “Clouds”, and going with its name, Badal Mahal actually seems like something came from the clouds. A perfect example of Rajasthani architecture, this is a 5 tiered mammoth of a building where each level has its intricate carvings and arched balconies.

Standing tall inside the Badal Mahal, Tazia Tower is proud of its architecture. The tower is a 5-storied structure where each story has significance in its own. On each floor, there is a balcony that is famous for their individual designs.
