About this activity
Inside of the art-deco Kota Railway Station, greet your guide and get a historical overview of Old Town’s history. Proceed to Museum of Bank Indonesia via underpass tunnel. Illustration of the comparison between the town condition during the colonial era and present days will be given. This 200-years old museum which formerly was a central bank symbolizes the richness of the colony and exhibits the history of trading and money collections.

Next we will go back to the very begining point of the city, Sunda Kelapa harbour which was an old port of a Hindu kingdom before western traders came. Ride on a local mini bus to experience on how the local commute. Stroll inside the harbour where big wooden ships are parked and feel free to snap plenty images of its unique features.The history of Jakarta always related with maritime trading. Hence, Maritime Museum is the next destination. The building was formerly spice warehouses and spices was very important comodities traded by the colonial. Here we will provide information about the history of colonization in the Archipelago. Climb up to the watchtower and view the scenary of North Jakarta.

The tour continues to Kota Intan Bridge which is a typical Dutch wooden bridge that still exist in the present day. Wonder along the Kalibesar Canal bank where it was the prosperous vein heart of the city until the turning of 20th century. Fatahillah museum which name is derived from a Javanese General that led the expulsion of the first western power is the last destination. Inside the museum you have a chance to see the underground dungeon and memorial of a tragic event. The journey inside these former city hall concludes the stories of the Old Town which is full of pain and glorious chapters.

The Bank and Jakarta Museum visits and the stop at the port were very good. The maritime museum could be left out. Also the long walk back from the port without anything of note to see or talk about could be done by trishaw to save time for the better parts.
