Private Tour: Full-Day Highlights of Jakarta Tour with Lunch
The first place you will visit is the Istiqlal mosque. This is the largest mosque in South East Asia, as it can accommodate a congregation of up to 120,000 people.
To show that these two big religions are living in harmony in Indonesia, standing proudly right across is the old Catholic church; Gereja Katedral built in the neo gothic style which was consecrated in 1901, a common architectural style to build churches at that time.
Continue next to the National Museum. The collection of this museum covers all of Indonesia’s territory and almost all of its history. It is an archeological, ethnological, historical and geographical museum. This is the national museum which keeps the largest collection of Hindu-Buddhist ancient art of Indonesia. Continue to Monas (Monument National) is a 132 meter high tower located in the center of Merdeka square symbolizing the fight for Indonesia, and commemorating the struggle for Indonesian independence.
Afterwards you will drive to reach the Sunda Kelapa harbor. This 500-year-old harbor area was a vital link to the markets of the outside world in the 15th century kingdom of Pajajaran. It was formerly the harbor town of Sunda Kelapa where the Portuguese traded with the Hindu Kingdom of Pajajaran in the early 16th century. Since then this port has belonged to the Portuguese and Dutch.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing onto the Jakarta old town often called Batavia town. This 1.3 square kilometer heritage site has been famous for the central trading of Asia in the past due to the strategic location and natural resources. This site is always full of people that wander through the street and the main square.

The tour guide was very engaging, and had a fairly good command of the English language. The itinerary was just nice for a day tour, without having to rush between locations. Unfortunately the main building of the National Museum was not accessible, and we only had access to the non-permanent exhibits. Otherwise a great tour overall!
Donovan, our guide, and Auckland, our driver, were very good. We started at Chinatown and finished at the National Museum. It was spoilt somewhat by Donovan not appreciating the tip that we gave him. Auckland on the other hand was extremely appreciative.
Viator full day highlights of Jakarta was really a nice private guided tour, as I had in the past too. Very good and informative guide Patty and a cool and patient cab driver were really nice companion of the tour. Only thing which we didn't like was the selection of restaurant for lunch. If you pick up the customer from a 5-star hotel, your package lunch should also be of that standard. Otherwise the tour was memorable. Thanks Viator.
Great way to see what there is in Jakarta in a day albeit on the surface We had a good guide who spoke excellent English which always helps. The driver was good and car was modern and air-conditioned. We were fortunate with the traffic which meant we had more time to see things rather than sit in traffic jams. The port and old part of town were good and the guide explained the history around the other areas as we passed through. Extra bonus was the guide organising our train ticket for the next day and fixing our SIM card problem - all after the tour finished.
