Visit the National Monument which is in the middle of Merdeka Square is a 132 Meter tall monument with a gold-leaf flame on top, symbolizes the nation’s independence. This is one of the highlights of Jakarta City. The basement of the monument houses an exhibit of 48 dioramas depicting the history of Indonesia from prehistoric times to the present.

Stop At: National Museum, Jl. Medan Merdeka Barat 12 Central Jakarta, Jakarta 10110 Indonesia

Continue our tour to the National Museum that located in Merdeka square area. The national museum is the first and biggest museum in Southeast Asia. This cultural center offers excellent displays of History, Archeology, and Religion, exhibiting important collections from international sites.

Visit Dutch Town or Old Town which will make you feel like you are in Amsterdam because the entire building in the Dutch Town area has a Dutch style of building. Dutch Town or the old town of Batavia used to be the center of Dutch rule when colonizing Indonesia, therefore in this area, there were former governor's offices, banks, hospitals, post offices, and courthouses, which are now converted into museums.

Fatahillah Museum is also known as The Jakarta History Museum. Originally built by Dutch in 1710 used for Jakarta City Hall or “Staad Huis” furnished with antique furnishing, porcelains, old map and portraits, underwater jail and other items used by former Dutch Governor-General. Fatahillah Museum is one of the popular museums which is often visited by tourist who want to know about Dutch Colonialism in Indonesia.

Visit the Puppet Museum and find great collections of Indonesia’s cultural heritage. An Old Dutch Colonial house which contains great collections of Javanese leather puppets, wooden puppets, and masks of Indonesia and some other parts of the world.

To close the trip today, we will visit the oldest port in Jakarta, the port that witnessed the heyday of the Netherlands when it controlled the entire spice trade in Indonesia.
