Taj Mahal. Agra Fort was started by Akbar somewhere in the range of 1565 and 1573. It is arranged on the west bank of the Jumna River, about 2km upstream from the Taj Mahal (outline). Akbar assembled the post of sandstone; his grandson Shah Jahan, the developer of the Taj Mahal, built royal residences of white marble inside the fortification itself.
