Camel Safari Day Tour in Jodhpur

Overall, this was a wonderful experience which I would recommend to other travelers to Jodhpur. Both the driver and the family were very welcoming. However, for a solo traveler it was admittedly a bit awkward. The tour description is adequate however it should be noted that the driver is not necessarily a guide, rather, he is a facilitator. The visit to the Jain Temple is included in the itinerary but without real context so you are given directions on how to view it but there's no real history or literature to add value to the experience. A little explanation here would go a long way. After leaving the temple, we drove further into the desert to start the camel ride but I was expecting to arrive at a facility of some sort rather than just meeting a herd of camels on the side of the road. Again, had I had an expectation of this I would have been better prepared especially as a solo female traveler. I left on a camel with a young man who didn't speak very much English and was very quiet but polite. Once we arrived to the village however, the atmosphere was much more welcoming. Everyone I met was warm and friendly but they were preparing for a larger group who would spend the night so my experience was rushed and the family distracted in order to welcome the other guests. That being said, I think in a larger group with a few simple though key communication improvements this would be an excellent experience and a highlight for a trip to Jodhpur.
