About this activity
We welcome you to the "Blue City", Jodhpur in royal Rajasthan. Our private guide will pick you up from your hotel lobby and whisk you off for a four-hour excursion of Jodhpur's most stunning sights; the magnificent Mehrangarh Fort and the marvellous Jaswant Thada. Known for its astonishing architecture, formidable walls and rich heritage, the legendary Mehrangarh fort is situated 410 meters above Jodhpur city. The fort, replete with ornate red sandstone carvings, also features the gorgeous Phool Mahal known for its exquisite gold paintings, the Sheesh Mahal known for its intricate mirror work, and the alluring Moti Mahal. To quote Rudyard Kipling, this citadel of the sun is "A palace that might have been built by Titans and coloured by the morning sun". After being awe-stuck by Mehrangarh, we head to the 'Taj Mahal of Marwar', the Jaswant Thada. This burial ground of the rulers of Marwar, was built in 1899 by Maharaj Sardar Singh, as a royal cenotaph, to commemorate his father, Maharaja Jaswant Sing II, the 33rd Rathore ruler. Jaswant Thada boasts of perfectly chiselled intricate patterns, with exquisitely thin marbled latticework. The tiny, clear-water lake and the multi-tiered garden enhances the Thada’s magnificence. Next, we visit the colourful market where the Clock Tower stands proudly. The vibrant bazaars of Jodhpur are hard to ignore for their exquisite Rajasthani textiles, handicrafts, miniature figurines of animals, silver jewellery etc. After exploring the best of Jodhpur, we head back to your hotel where our tour concludes.
