Public Art and Newtown Private Tour in Johannesburg

This tour is designed around the heritage trail of public art in inner city Johannesburg. Public Art provides a means of celebrating Johannesburg’s unique culture, diverse communities and rich history. It offers shared symbols which build social cohesion, contribute to civic pride and help forge a positive identity for the city.

The tour has been extended to include the Bus Factory and Worker’s Museum. Other highlights included in the day include the Brenda Fassie sculpture and the Ghandi Memorial – both fascinating works of art which portray the social, creative and historical heritage of Johannesburg. If time allows, a visit to artists’ studios in Newtown can be included.
