Auke Bay Sea Kayaking Adventure

As your group of up to 6 guests and 1 guide navigate through the small harbor, you’ll cruise by commercial fishing vessels, sailboats, live-aboard boats, and the occasional private yacht. From there, your guide will select the best route for the day’s tides and weather conditions as your group kayaks down the coast to uninhabited islands. Throughout the summer, it’s common to be joined by jumping salmon and curious harbor seals – as you glide over shallow water, keep your eyes open for starfish and anemones. Look up to the sky as eagles soar overhead, searching for their next meal.

The Auke Bay Sea Kayaking Tour is an active kayaking experience on the outskirts of Juneau suited for novice kayakers, as well as those with experience. Upon your return, enjoy a light snack on the dock or around our camp fire. All kayaking gear provided – rain gear available upon request at no additional charge.

Sample Itinerary 

10:00 Pick up from C-Sign, located in downtown Juneau at the bottom of the Mt. Roberts Tram 

10:30 Arrive at our rental shop in Auke Bay for gear fitting, safety briefing, and on-shore kayaking instruction 

11:00 Launch double kayaks directly from our shop for 1.5-2 hour kayaking adventure. Keep your eyes open for harbor seals, sea lions, salmon, eagles, and other wildlife as you navigate out of the harbor into the open ocean. Route and destination will be determined by weather and marine conditions,

12:30 – 1:00 Return to Rental Shop to warm up by our fire and enjoy a snack before departing for downtown Juneau. 

1:30 Arrive at the C-Sign in Downtown Juneau.

Weather, Cancellations, and Refunds

In southeast Alaska, we get out and about – rain or shine – and don’t let the weather slow us down. That being said, there are occasional marine and weather conditions that require us to keep our feet on the ground and boats off the water. The Alaska Boat and Kayak Shop reserves the right to cancel rental and water taxi reservations due to unsafe paddling conditions in specific paddle areas. In such case, a full refund will be issued. ***All guests must know how to swim, participate in safety briefing prior to tour, and sign a release

of liability waiver.***
