Juneau Shore Excursion: Alaskan Salmon Bake

Variable
About this activity
While in port in Juneau, taste and smell the delicious flavors of wild Alaskan salmon at a traditional salmon bake during this shore excursion. Depending on your ship’s arrival, enjoy lunch or dinner at this unique, all-you-can-eat outdoor adventure perfect for food lovers and those looking for an all-inclusive Alaskan experience.

Enjoy grilled Alaska salmon, cheechako chicken, Chilkoot baked beans, Tongass wild-rice pilaf, Alyeska au gratin potatoes, salad, beverages and a variety of other side dishes — you won’t leave hungry! Top off your feast with scrumptious blueberry cake, and wash your meal down with beer and wine, available for purchase.

Afterwards, a number of activities awaits you. Witness Doug Chilton, a Tlingit Master Carver, and his son, work on two 10-foot-tall (3-meter-tall) cedar totem poles and silver jewelry. Learn from the artisans themselves about the lore and culture behind their ancestral craft. Don’t miss the chance to purchase a unique work of art from the gift shop.

Take pleasure in roasting marshmallows at the campfire, walk up to the Salmon Creek waterfall or peek into the entrance of the historic Wagner Mine. See mining relics inside and get into the spirit by sifting for gold on your own using a nearby trough.

How long you spend at the salmon bake is up to you — buses depart back to the Juneau port regularly.

I had a great time listening to the blues while eating great sockeye salmon! As much salmon as I would like! Water falls are very close

we enjoyed the bake. the salmon was slightly over baked but the place was clean and everyone was friendly. there was live music playing and the food was good. I even saw an eagle and got some great pictures. and they have heat lamps to keep you warm which was great because it was cold and rainy all day.
