About this activity
Once you depart your ship, meet your guide at the Mt Roberts Tramway to transfer to a bus that will take you on a short drive to Auke Bay. Enjoy the views of soaring mountains behind the placid bay. Board your jet boat for an informative ride through Alaska’s waters, as you learn about the local wildlife from a naturalist.
Peer through provided binoculars for a closer look at the humpbacks, killer whales and sea lions. But don’t forget to occasionally turn your gaze overhead for unrivaled views of the mountains from the water, and keep an eye out for bald eagles soaring above you. Enjoy onboard refreshments such as soft drinks, coffee or hot chocolate and a small snack of Alaskan salmon spread on a bagel.
At the end of your 2-hour cruise, disembark and settle in for the short drive to the award-winning Alaskan Brewing Company. Taste the freshness of Alaska flowing from their 10 taps, including Alaskan Amber, Alaskan White Ale and Freeride APA. The Brew Crew will educate you on the brewery’s history and how the beer is made, and give you a sneak peek at their original brewing system and artifacts. - Whale- and Passenger-Friendly Boats
- Each boat is designed with water-jet drives to ensure quiet underwater operation without dangerous propellers that may frighten or harm the animals. Because the whales feel safe around the boats, you will receive the benefit of being able to witness their endearing social nature up close. In addition, the boats are equipped with hydrophones that are lowered into the water. These devices allow you to hear the whales communicate with each other.

My husband and I really enjoyed this excursion. We got really close to a beautiful humpback whale and the brewery tour was very cool.
