Meet your guide at the Mt Roberts Tramway and hop aboard a bus that will take you on a scenic drive to Auke Bay, where dramatic peaks reach down to the bay’s placid blue water. Learn more about the bay and the marine life that inhabits it when you board your next ride: a jet boat. Your captain and naturalist guide will lead you through the waters and teach about the whales that swim through the local channels and passageways.
Peer through provided binoculars for a closer look at the humpbacks, killer whales and sea lions. But don’t forget to occasionally turn your gaze overhead for unrivaled views of the mountains from the water, and keep an eye out for bald eagles soaring above you. Enjoy onboard refreshments such as soft drinks, coffee or hot chocolate and a small snack of Alaskan salmon spread on a bagel.
At the end of your 2-hour cruise, disembark and settle in for the short drive to the award-winning Alaskan Brewing Company. Taste the freshness of Alaska flowing from their 10 taps, including Alaskan Amber, Alaskan White Ale and Freeride APA. The Brew Crew will educate you on the brewery’s history and how the beer is made, and give you a sneak peek at their original brewing system and artifacts. The whale watching boat was great with the top deck to see the whales. It was easy to spot the spouts. The breaches were amazing! The brewery tours was very informative and tasty!! I would recommend this tour, the captain and naturalists made the tour wonderful!
Perfect day. It was nice to be on a boat that was not jam packed like the cruise ship tours. As a bonus we spent some time with 3 orcas. The crew was wonderful and gave us a good show. Weather was great as well, but that was just luck. The brewery tour was fun and informative. Really fun staff. This tour was a great value for the money. I just recommended this to a friend going in September.
Wish we would have seen a whale jump out of the water like the pic at left. Tail was OK.
