On our Road to Honolua – Maui’s coastal treasures luxury tour we’ll show you a West of Maui outrageously beautiful scenery, this is totally “MUST SEE” guided tour. The sunny northwest coast of Maui was once a retreat for Hawaiian royalty and the capitol of the Hawaiian Kingdom. The West Maui Mountains are older than Haleakala – more eroded, lush, and alive. The highest peak of these mountains is Pu’u Kukui at 5,788 feet. Iao Valley is the most famous valley of this mountain range.

Stop At: Dragon's Teeth, Makalua-puna Point off Office Road, Kapalua, Maui, HI 96761

Dragon's Teeth is a good example of what can happen when forces of nature collide. As the lava from the West Maui Volcano poured into the ocean, fierce wind and waves forced it back and it cooled into a formation that resembles great black teeth. Makaluapuna Point, as it's also called, was created from one of the last lava flows on Maui. However, the lava is a little different from the rest of the lava on Maui, as it is much lighter, denser, and fine-grained.
