KALAMATA AUTHENTIC GREEK DAY IN OUR FARM WITH COOKING LESSON and LUNCH

Our little organic farm sits amidst cloud kissed mountains at a top of a hill on a height of 600 ft above sea level with panoramic magnificent view of the Messinian Gulf, Mt.Taygetos and pictorial small villages. Pickup from the meeting point.

We walk through narrow streets, olive groves and vineyards to arrive at the farm.

A warm welcome to our farm, a little prayer in our chapel if you wish, before to start our activities. We’ll attend the farm animals, collect eggs, gather organic fruit, vegetables & herbs in order to prepare a yummy traditional meal, during the preparation of which you will attend a Greek cooking lesson. Whilst you are learning about cooking, you will also taste a ‘meze’ a Greek appetizer with ouzo. You will learn how to start a wood burning oven so that we can roast our food.

Whilst we are waiting for lunch to be cooked you can enjoy a cycling or walking tour around the olive groves & vineyards. We can visit a branch of the Mt. Athos Byzantine Monastery or see the secret school from the Ottoman era or we can go on a discovery walk through the narrow streets of the village.

Upon your return to the farm you will be greeted by the delicious aromas of the food waiting for you. We set the table for an authentic Greek lunch consisting of the food we have prepared, a Greek salad made with the vegetables we collected, local feta and olives & olive oil from our farm along with a selection of local delicatessen. There is plenty of Greek wine to accompany our lunch, along with Greek music & dancing.

You will learn how to make and enjoy a Greek coffee before the afternoon activities start. Depending on the season you can help with various seasonal farm works like grape harvesting, wine making, orange & olive harvesting, extracting olive oil, smoking local ham and sausages, harvesting honey, masonry, basket making, herb & pick up edible wild greens. Our young visitors can enjoy archery and other games.

If you wish you can plant your own olive tree in our farm and to produce your own extra virgin olive oil which we can send you home after 4-5 years. Off course we will take care your tree.

Taste our farm products like fruit, dried fruit, vegetables, eggs, honey, olives, olive oil, ham, jams and desserts – all available for purchase if you wish, to take home with you or to be dispatched to your residence.

Goodbye with smiles and some small complimentary gifts, and we will return you to the initial meeting point.
