About this activity
Day 1: Athens, Levadia, Arachova, Delphi, Itea, Galaxidi, Nafpaktos, Rio Bridge, Patras, Ancient Olympia
Experience the culture of Greece starting early from Athens and driving through fertile areas of Central Greece.
Passing by Levadia, you will see the nearby to Delphi village of Arachova. It is the hub of the jet-set during winter, due to the ski center on the slopes of Mt Parnassus.
Soon after, you will reach the renowned site of Delphi at the foot of Parnassus, above the Gulf of Itea.
Delphi is one of the most famous archaeological sites in Greece. In ancient times throughout the Greek territory it was a place of worship and the most important cultural center of the known world, due to the sanctuary of god Apollo.
As in Olympia here too, there were athletic games in honor of the gods: the Delphic games, second in fame after the Olympic Games.
The rich and ancient remains of the unique location and nature of Delphi will create a unique feeling, due to its strong and penetrating aura. Among others you will see the treasury of Athens, the Temple of Apollo, the Castalia Spring and the museum of Delphi that houses statues and findings of immense importance.
After the sightseeing tour, you will enjoy a typical Greek lunch in Delphi.
Later, driving through Itea, Nafpaktos and passing by the impressive bridge of Rio Antirrio, you will reach Olympia late in the afternoon. Overnight in Olympia.
Day 2nd: Olympia, Corinth canal, Athens
Get ready for a tour to the history and culture of the Olympic Games, with a visit to their birthplace.
Olympia is the place where the games were born and held every four years.
You will have the chance to run the original race track if you wish, visit the sanctuary of Zeus and the museum of Olympic Games, which will introduce you to the ancient Games and will present a storyline till the modern Games through a quite rich collection of artefacts.
After the visit to the site of ancient Olympia you will also enjoy a lovely lunch.
On your way back to Athens via the coastal road of the Saronic Gulf, you will have a short stop at the Corinth canal, which connects western & eastern Greece, the Aegean sea with the Ionian Sea, and you will take some memorable pictures.
You will reach Athens late in the afternoon and your two days cultural tour will end here.
