About this activity
The tour starts at the Syntagma metro station for a brief look at the ancient artifacts displayed at the metro’s museum. You’ll also see the Greek Parliament, the Monument of the Unknown Soldier, and watch the Changing of the Guards.

Next, our guide will walk you through the National Gardens, Zappeion Hall, the Temple of Zeus and Hadrian’s Arch. From there you’ll walk towards the Acropolis on the beautiful pedestrian walkway called Dionysiou Areopagitou.

The Acropolis Museum is another highlight on this tour, a perfect follow-up to actually exploring the sights at the Acropolis itself. Recognized as one of the top museums in the world, you’ll find yourself up close to the impressive marble masterpieces found on the Acropolis including dramatic sculptures and friezes that brilliantly define the Classical period of ancient Greece.

Skip-the-Line Access: The Acropolis

The entrance tickets are not included in the tours fee because there are various rates depending on participants (students, children etc.), on the season (high, low) and there is free entrance on some specific dates throughout the year. However, we provide you with a skip-the line-service at no extra cost. We buy the tickets in advance so you skip the lines and have immediate access to the sights listed on the tour. Please make sure you have enough cash (Euros) with you to purchase the tickets from us at the beginning of your tour.

Entering on the south slope of the Acropolis, you’ll visit the Dionysus Sanctuary and Dionysus Theater before you walk up the slope leading to the Acropolis monuments. Panoramic views of the city will be perfect for Instagram-ready photos. During your tour, you’ll gain insight into the significance of its historic monuments including the Parthenon, the Erechtheion, the Propylaia, the Nike Temple and other significant sights including the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Ancient Agora, the National Observatory of Athens and the city’s scenic hills: Filoppapos, Mars, and Pnyx.

NOTE: After the first part of the tour ends on the Acropolis at approximately 13:00 (1:00 pm), you may take more photos before meeting for the Acropolis Museum Tour. During this time, you may get a snack or a drink before the guided tour starts at the museum at approximately 13:45 (1:45 pm).

Acropolis Museum

Designed by renowned Swiss architect Bernard Tschumi and notable Greek architect Michalis Photiadis, the Acropolis Museum captivates guests on approach. Its seamless modern lines elegantly incorporate artifacts exclusively from the Acropolis, and excavations are also visible under glass floors and walkways. The marbled surviving treasures are impressively displayed with the use of natural light, situated on a modernist open layout. Panoramic views top the experience. The tour ends at the Acropolis Museum at approximately 15:00 (3:00 pm).

This was a good tour. Cece was our guide. Not only does she know her information but she has a phD in either archeology or history. It was hot and she made sure to stop every 5 or 10 minutes and find shade for us to stand under while she explained what we were about to see or have seen. It's a lot of walking so bring good walking shoes and plenty of energy. Even though it was a lot of walking we really didn't feel burned out because of the shade breaks. My wife is not a big walker but she made it without many complaints. We even had an elderly couple maybe in their 70's keeping up. It was a good way to pass the daty

Ermis proved to be an excellent guide - knowledgeable and with a light engaging delivery. Learnt a lot. Highlights were understandably the Acropolis and its museum - but whole tour was very worthwhile.

This was a great tour and our guide Costas was excellent. As an archaeologist he was able to explain how small details, historical records, myths and artifacts went together and how archaeologists used the data to understand history. He shared pictures and drawings of how things would have looked in the day and had amazing stories of families, doctors, leaders, animals, leaders, etc. The day was so interesting and glad it included the museum. Thank you for an incredible experience.
