About this activity
After breakfast we will pick you at your accommodation in Kandy(0900AM) and proceed to Loolkandura Estate where the very first patch of tea was planted in Srilanka. Explore the tea plantation the Loolecondera Tea Factory, James Taylor Seat , Tea Tree, James Taylor Statue and Hanthana tea museum etc. The Ceylon Tea Museum is located in the former Hanthana Tea Factory, which was originally constructed in 1925. Hanthana was one of the first successful areas to cultivate tea following the failure of coffee production on the island. In 1959 the Tea Research Institute of Ceylon established a sub station on land leased from the Hanthana Estate. This day tour allow you to visit a number of historic sites and learn the tea history of Srilanka and the process of tea making. Lunch and refreshment can be taken from local shops and restaurants and you can expect to return back by 0200PM. End of the tour you will be accompanied back to your hotel in kandy.
