Square, lies at the southern part of Thamel where the royal family lived until the 19th century. It is also known as Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square.
Most of the buildings in the palace are built in the pagoda style embellished with intricately carved wooden windows and panels. This is one of the excellent examples of the ancient traditional Nepali architecture. Durbar Square also epitomizes the religious and cultural life of Nepalese people.
Overlooking the south part of the palace, Kumari Ghar is three-storeyed brick building richly decorated with wooden-carved reliefs of god and symbols, where the living Goddess Kumari lives.

Pashupatinath Temple is Nepal’s most sacred Hindu Temple that lies on the banks of Bagmati river, 5-km east of Kathmandu city. Pashupatinath is an avatar of Hindu God Shiva as “Lord of animals” which draws the devotees from the Indian subcontinent. During the evening from 6 to 7 P.M, the aarati (fire worship with songs and dance dedicating Lord Shiva) are regularly performed.
It is believed that those who die in Pashupatinath Temple are reborn as a human, regardless of any misconduct throughout the lifetime. Cremations are done at the bank of the sacred Bagmati river.

Boudhanath is just 2.1km away from Pashupatinath temple. It is the largest spherical stupa in Nepal. It has a greater significance of Tibetan Buddhism and their culture. This is also enlisted in World heritage sites. Tibetan community comes along and walk around the stupa with a simple melody of the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum by spinning the prayer wheels.
There are many monasteries lies within Boudhanath such as Tamang Gompa, which is gracefully decorated with vibrant murals.
