ABC trek. It is one of the Most Popular Treks in Annapurna region. This trek is also popular as Annapurna Sanctuary trek. The ABC trek is an adventurous journey to the lap of Mt. Annapurna (8091m), world’s tenth highest mountain, as well as deep into the heart of Annapurna Sanctuary.

The major attractions of Annapurna Base Camp trek is the opportunity to observe 360 degree views of world’s highest mountains including

Annapurna I, II, III and IV, Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Mt. Fishtail (Macchapuchre) , Gangapurna and Glacier Dome among others.

You will be passing through typical Gurung villages, terraced fields, rivers, streams, waterfall and green hills. The contrasting landscape of dense tropical jungle of rhododendrons and bamboo full of wildlife activities in the south slope of Mt. Annapurna and barren Tibetan-plateau like landscape in the northern slope will mesmerize you beyond anything. During spring, the forests come alive with birds and beautiful rhododendron flowers. Kali Gandaki Gorge, the deepest river gorge in the world, stretching 3 miles long and 1.5 miles wide can also be observed in this area.

The trail of Annapurna Base Camp trek falls in the

Annapurna Conservation Area project (ACAP), the largest protected area in Nepal. Thus it is home to 1,226 species of flowering plants, 102 mammals, 474 birds, 39 reptiles and 22 amphibians. The major inhabitants of Annapurna Region are Gurung, Magar, Thakali, Manange and Loba who follow Buddhist religion and have unique culture and custom.

Poon Hill (3232 m). Poon Hill is one of the famous view points in the Himalayas offering astonishing views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains.

The trek starts from Pokhara, a scenic touristic town full of lakes, caves and adventure. You can either fly to Pokhara from Kathamandu, which takes 30 minutes, or take a 5 hours drive from Kathmandu.
