Namche Bazaar, situated at a height of 3440m, is the gateway to the world’s highest mountain. Namche is the biggest ethnic village, mainly inhabited by the Sherpa people, who follow the Tibetan Buddhism religion. Here, one is offered the opportunity to acclimatize in readiness for the heights you will achieve on the trek ahead of you. Namche Bazaar, once a trading post, is a unique market, where trekkers can source a wide variety of local items or necessities for their trek. On Friday evenings and Saturdays, specialized stalls are put up in the marketplace. Other attractions the area has to offer is the famous Namche Monastery, Namche library and a Museum dedicated to showcasing the Sherpa way of life.

The trek also incorporates Gokyo Valley, Gorakshep, Kalapatthar and Lukla. The Gokyo Valley is an amazingly beautiful place, the entire valley setting – including Gokyo Lake and Gokyo Ri peak will take your breath away. From the Gokyo Valley, impressive peaks like Cho Oyo, Everest, Lhotse and Makalu, all amongst the highest in the world, are visible.
