About this activity
Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu, receive and transfer to hotel.

Day 2: Optional Kathmandu valley sightseeing&Trek preparation

Day 3: Fly to Bhadrapur (45 minutes approx) and drive to Ilam (3 hours 16 minutes approx, 97.3 km)

Day 4: Drive to Taplegunj (5 hours), trek to Mitlung (921m/3,021 feet) Approx 3 1/2 hours 

Day 5: Mitlung to Chirwa (1,246m/4,087ft) 5 – 6hrs trek

Day 6: Chirwa to Sekathum (1,660m/5,446ft) 5-6hrs trek

Day 7: Sekathum to Amjilosa (2,510m/8,234ft) 5-6hrs trek

Day 8: Amjilosa to Gyabla (2,730m/8,956ft) 5-6 hours trek

Day 9: Gyabla to Ghunsa (3,595m/11,794ft) 5-6hrs trek

Day 10: Acclimatization day at Ghunsa (3,595m/11794 ft)

Day 11:Ghunsa to Khambachen (4,100m/13,451ft) 5-6hrs trek

Day 12: Acclimatization and rest day at Khambachen

Day 13:Khambachen to Lhonak (4,785m/15,698ft) 5-6 hrs trek

Day 14:Day trek to Pangema (KBC); (5,143m/16,873ft) 6-7hrs trek and back to Lhonak

Day 15:Return to Ghunsa (3,595m/11,794 ft) 8 hours 

Day 16:Ghunsa to High camp (4,100m/13,451ft) before Mirgin La pass 5-6hrs trek

Day 17: High camp to Tseram (3,870m/12,696ft) [via Mirgin la (4,663m/15,289ft)] 6-7hrs trek

Day 18:Tseram to Ramche (4,580 m/ 15026ft) - 4 hours trek

 Day 19:Ramche (4,580 m/ 15026ft) to Okhtang (4730m/15,518 ft) and return to Tseram (3870m/12,696 ft) 5-6 hours hike

Day 20: Tseram to Tortong (3,000m/9842 ft); 4-5 hours 

Day 21: Tortong to Yamphudin (2,080m/6824ft) 7 hours 

Day 22: Yamphudin to Mamankhe (1,810m/5938 ft) 4-5 hours

Day 23: Mamankhe to Kande Bhanjang (2149m/7050ft); 6 hours 

Day 24: Kande Bhanjang to Lali Kharka (2265 m/7431ft); 6 hours 

Day 25: Lali Kharka to the Taplegunj via airfield at Suketar (2,300m/7,545ft). 4-5 hours trek

Day 26: Taplejung to Bhadrapur 5-6hrs drive

Day 27: Bhadrapur to Kathmandu

  • Tipping is a nice way of saying thank-you and appreciating to crew members (leader, guide, cooks, porter) who will play a vital role in your trekking experience. We will suggest and encourage you to be generous about tipping they have done for you. The recommended amount for trekking guide is Rs. 400/ day and for Porter Rs. 200/ day by each client.

  • A current valid passport is required on the day of travel
  • Passport name, number, expiry and country is required at time of booking for all participants
  • Walking boots. A pair of water repellent boots with ankle support.
  • Gaiters. A pair used to keep boots dry if walking through deep snow.
  • Walking socks.
  • Trainers or trail shoes. Can be use in and around lodge in the afternoons/evenings.
  • Waterproof jacket and trousers (Gore-Tex or similar).
  • Trekking trousers.
  • Long sleeve shirts (not cotton).
  • Micro fleece.
  • Mid to heavyweight fleece.
  • Sleeveless or body warmer type fleece.
  • Thermals or base layer for top & bottom (merino wool or synthetic).
  • Fleece pants.
  • Medium weight down jacket (e.g. Nuptse jacket by The North Face).
  • Fleece gloves.
  • Warms mittens and/or gloves.
  • Wool or fleece hat.

  • Sleeping bag (Note: it is possible to rent this in Kathmandu for about $1 per day).
  • Day pack large enough to carry water bottles, camera, lunch and extra clothing.
  • Stuff sacks for keeping your gear dry and organized.
  • Two water bottles (Nalgene wide mouth bottles are the best).
  • Sunscreen and lip salve with a high SPF.
  • Water purification tablets (Pristine, Biox Aqua or Aqua Mira).
  • Favorite snack food.
  • Books, iPod and cards etc.
  • Trekking poles (optional).
  • Camera with spare batteries and memory cards.
  • Insurance certificate.
  • Earplugs (optional).
  • Baby wipes (optional).
  • Hand sanitizer (optional).
  • Duffle bag or large backpack for your personal gear on the trek (carried by a porter). Bring a small combination padlock to secure the bag.
  • Travel clothes. You will need casual clothing for air travel days and time spent in Kathmandu.
  • Toiletry bag include toilet paper, soap, towel, toothbrush, etc.
  • Note: we provide a comprehensive group first aid kit but please bring personal medications and other items you might use regularly such as:
  • Any personal medications.
  • Malaria prophylactic tablets.
  • Blister treatment (Compeed patches are the best).
  • Rehydration powder e.g. Dioralyte.
  • Analgesics (paracetamol, ibuprofen and aspirin).
  • Plasters and zinc oxide tape.
  • Throat lozenges.
  • Diamox (helps with acclimatization).
