About this activity
• After breakfast, tour guide will pick you from your hotel and start our tour with a drive to Swoyambhunath. Swayanbhunath also known as " Monkey Temple" is at least 1,600 years old if we go by written records and still sacred for both the Buddhists and the Hindus, the best approach to reaching the Self-Created Stupa is a steep 365-ancient-step climb up the forested hillside from the east. The hill is also home to hundreds of monkeys, giving the temple its nickname, the Monkey Temple. Besides the main stupa once atop, numerous other shrines as well as votive structures all ask for some of our due attention. The Harati Devi, Shantipur, Pratappur, Anantapur, Agnipur and Nagpur Temples or the Shree Karma Raj Mahavira, an active monastery with a huge Buddha statue, or the Vajra, a thunderbolt scepter, can all easily trigger some contemplation.
• After Swoyambhunath, short drive to Kathmandu Durbar Square. Kathmandu durbar square where Kings were once crowned and legitimized , is a traditional heart of the town which holds spectacular legacy of traditional architecture of Kathmandu Valley. Although most of the monuments dates from 17th or 18th century, originally they are much older and listed in UNESCO world heritage sites in 1979.
• After Kathmandu Durbar Square drive to Pashupatinath Temple. A two-storey, majestic Pagoda with a single-tier plinth, standing tall at 23.6 metres, with aptly decorated doors on all four directions, the revered shrine, Pashupatinath, is located almost in the middle of a fairly big courtyard on the banks of the Bagmati River since time unknown for believers. Along with a 184 Shiva Linga shrine, the vicinity also houses the Vasukinath Temple, Unmatta Temple, Surya Narayan Temple, Kirtimukh Bhairav Shrine, a replica of Budanilkantha and a shrine devoted to Hanuman among others.
• After Pashupatinath, a short drive to our last destination Boudhnath Stupa. Boudhnath Stupa is located 6 Kilometer north-east, more east than north, from Kathmandu Centre, this tour takes all its passengers to a shrine where the aura of spirituality is no longer a myth. The aroma in the air of incenses, the sounds of rotating prayer wheels, the sights of people bowing in genuine respect, the prayer flags in all five colours and both the types fluttering in peace. This largest single Chhorten in the world as well as the one most revered outside Tibet is also an architecture that has by now drawn around 50 monasteries around its vicinity. Novice or a devout practitioner, a pilgrim or on a joy ride, the temple presents a worthwhile experience to millions each year.
