KATHMANDU VALLEY THROUGH YOUR EYES
Today’s Attractions: Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bouddhanath, Swoyambhunath and Thamel
After breakfast early in the morning, we proceed for full day sight-seeing of Kathmandu Valley where you will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bouddhanath, Swoyambhunath Temple and Thamel. The above-mentioned sites are also declared world heritage sites by UNESCO and Thamel is the traveler attracted place for shopping.
First, we will visit Bouddhanath which is 5 km from Thamel. Bouddha is one of the world’s largest pagoda. The place where Bouddhanath stands is one of the ancient trade routes from Tibet to Nepal. It is also believed that performing Kora i.e. ritual circumnavigation, saying the prayers chant elevates your soul to the heavens and the steps that we take on the Kora take us along the path towards enlightenment helping us to purify our negative karma.
Following Bouddhanath, we will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square which is one of the three royal palaces of ancient kings of Nepal. We will visit the Kumari (The living goddess) House, Hanumandhoka, local market and sight see the Durbar Square. The main attraction in Kathmandu Durbar Square is Kumari, the living goddess of Nepal. Kumari refers to virgin and unmarried girl and princess.
We will stop for lunch in New road and after lunch we will move towards our final destination i.e. Swoyambhunath Temple. Swoyambhunath itself stands for self- existed. It is the oldest Buddhist stupa which is said to be 2000 years old. It is situated atop the hill from where whole Kathmandu valley can be seen. So, we will watch the sunset from Swoyambu and the night view of Kathmandu city. This way our one day tour ends at the top of a hill with the majestic view of Kathmandu valley in night. Finally, you will be dropped to Thamel where you can do some shopping of souvenirs for your friend and family.
