Short Everest Base Camp Trek 8 Days

Itinerary

Day 1: Kathmandu to Lukla Scenic Flight (35 m) and short trek (4-5 hrs) to Monjo (2600m/ 2810m).

Pass By: Phakding 56000, Nepal
After a short morning flight to Lukla, you’ll be introduced to your guide and porter. Kick off your trek with an easy walk through Chaurikharka village and descent towards Dudhkoshi Ghat (2,530m/8,300ft). The trail follows the bank of the Dudh Koshi River until Phakding (2,652m/8,700ft), where we will be staying for the night to acclimatize. Enjoy your free time in Phakding, a popular stopping point.

Please Read: Lukla Flights are departing and returning to Ramechhap instead of Kathmandu due to ongoing upgrades at Kathmandu Airport. It's about a 4-hour drive to Ramechhap from Kathmandu so we will get started for the airport around 2 am. The return drive at the end of the trek is between 4 and 6 hours depending on traffic.

Day 2: Trek from Monjo to Namche Bazaar 3,450 m /11,315 ft- 6 hrs walk approximately

Pass By: Main Street, Namche Bazaar 56002 Nepal
We’ll have breakfast in Phakding before gearing up for the trek to Namche Bazaar, the biggest sherpa village in Nepal. Our trail takes us first over the Dudhkoshi River via a long suspension bridge, and then through a beautiful pine forest to Monjo, about two hours away. Soon thereafter, we will approach the entrance to Sagarmatha National Park for a brief permit check and then descend to Dudh Kosi River (spotting Mani stones along the way!) en route to Jorsale. Lunch will be served here, and then it’s uphill to Namche. Our path along the riverbank is flanked by two crossings, one of which is the Hillary Suspension Bridge. It’s a tough climb up the hill to our resting place, but you’ll be rewarded in Namche Bazaar with your first glimpse of Everest in its majesty.

Day 3: Trek from NamcheBazzar to Pangboche 3990 m/14,677 ft- 45/6 hrs walk approximately.

Breakfast in Namche Bazaar fuels us for another day of trekking towards Everest Base Camp today! Breathtaking views of the Himalayas - Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Kwangde - are some of the highlights not be missed. A short drop takes us to the riverside, then it’s across the river upwards through the forest pass. Brace your legs for a continual uphill trek at this point, alternating between a gradual grade and some seriously steep ground! Our destination, Tengboche, is known as one of the most beautiful places in the Everest region. Its views, which include Ama Dablam, are legendary. We’ll stop in on the Tengboche monastery, which is one of the largest in Khumbu. Nourish your spirit with a guided tour of the monastery grounds, followed by chanting and prayer with the resident Buddhist monks.

Day 4: Trek from Pangboche to Thukla 4620 m/15110 ft- 6/7 hour walk approximately.

Pass By: Lobuche, Khumjung 56000, Nepal
Today morning we pray in Monastery before we have breakfast after back we will have a beautiful breakfast with seeing the sunrise on Mt. Everest and surrounding peaks. Then we head off descending through jungle some time spotting the musk deer, mountain gout and monkeys on the way, then cross the Imja Khola whose valley now we follow ascending steadily to reach Pangboche. Then the trail goes through a Yak pasture known as Somare then now we are leaving trees behind us and cross a wooden bridge at the confluence of Khumbu Khola and Imja Khola. The trail continues a short climb up brings us to Dingboche. Perhaps today most is an interesting trek day because of incredible Ama Dablam and Mt. Everest. Overnight at lodge.

Day 5: Trek from Thukla to Gorakshep and Everest base camp 5170 m/16,961 ft and 5364 m/17,594 ft 5/ hours

Pass By: Gorak Shep, Khumjung 56000, Nepal
Today is the most exciting and long-awaited day. Leaving from Lubuche the trail leads flat meadow for while then following the Khumbu Glacier northwards and short climbing up. Then the trail climbs onto the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier to Gorak Shep. The path provides the superb view of massive Khumbu Glacier and trans-Himalayas. Upon our arrival at Gorak Shep check in the room then after lunch we walk to Everest Base Camp. The trail continues on the moraine of Khumbu glacier and path often change on the season because of melting of the glacier. Once we reach Base Camp, we take a photograph then retracing to Gorakshep. Overnight at lodge.

Day 6: Trek from Gorakshep to Periche 4,250 m/13,940 ft- 5 hrs walk approximately..

Pass By: Kalapathar Lodge, Lukla, Phakding 56000, Nepal
Wake up early morning today then 2hrs climbing-up bring us at Kalapathar on the bottom of Mt. Pumori. From Kalapathar we see the sunrise on the majestic Himalayas in 360º degree including Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lola, Khumbutse, Ama Table, Tabuchi, Cholatse, Thamserku and numerous other peaks with the excellent views of Everest Base camp and Khumbu glacier. Then have breakfast after that continue to walk through the moraine of Khumbu glacier and passing Lobuche, we descend back down beautiful valley to Pheritse, Overnight at lodge.

Day 7: Trek from Pheriche to Namche 3,450/11,315 ft 6 hrs walk approximately.

Pass By: Main Street, Namche Bazaar 56002 Nepal
The trail leads descending passes through the beautiful Sherpa villages and we get the bank into Dudkosi River then after cross the river trail goes into the forest via Dingboche after that climbing up to Tengboche. Then descending through the rhododendron forest cross the river continues to walk up to Kanjuma then easy walk with great views of Ama Table to Namche Bazaar, Overnight at lodge.

Day 8: Trek from Namche to Lukla 2,850m/9,350ft- 6 hrs approximately.

Pass By: Everest Beauty Salon, Namche, Lukla 56002 Nepal
We go through Namche village then descend in the forest to Jors sale. The trek continues goes along the Dudh Koshi River, passing the small village on the way then to the small mountain airstrip at Lukla. Overnight at lodge.

Day 9: Fly Lukla/Kathmandu 35minutes.

oday we have the scenic flight back to Kathmandu, Upon arrival at Kathmandu. And drive to the hotel. Then take a rest or shopping for family and friends. We have a farewell dinner at Thamel, overnight at hotel.
