About this activity

Begin with a 15 minute Ketchikan city tour that brings history alive and shares Alaska's way of life. When you get to the Totem Bight Park, you will have about 10 minutes walking through the forest to the totem viewing pavilion. Hear about life in ancient times and learn about the traditional winter home for natives of the northwest coast, which offered shelter from sun and storm.

Continue your walk to view more totems and smell the fresh sea air on the nearby beach. Total walking is about 300 yards. Conclude your cultural visit at Totem Bight with a stop in the gift shop with many local products including gift size totem poles and decorative items, books, apparel, and a free cup of coffee. Your guide will offer suggestions on shopping and dining on the return trip to the dock as you finish your visit.
