About this activity
You will be picked up from your hotel in Khajuraho and driven to the Western Cluster of Temples. The Western cluster of temples consists of the most important temples of Khajuraho. They are set in a parkland landscape with grass, rose beds and ornamental trees. Your guide will accompany you and explain the significance of each temple you visit.

The Kandariya Mahadeva is the largest and most magnificent temple in Khajuraho. The elegant proportions of this building and its sculptural detailing are the most refined examples of the artistic heritage of central India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Devi Jagdambi Temple is much smaller. This temple has some of the loveliest sculptures in Khajuraho, and because of its medium height most of them are easily visible.

The striking Lakshman Temple is one of the three largest temples of Khajuraho and the western group of temples. It is considered to be the earliest temple (954 AD) to have been built by the Chandella rulers. The temple faces towards the east and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

Devi Mandap is a small shrine located opposite the large Lakshman Temple. Its cemented peaked roof is an indication that it has been renovated during the last century. Another small shrine is the Varaha Mandap. This open pavilion stands to the south of the Devi shrine on a high platform.

Chousath Yogini Temple is dedicated to 64 Yoginis, who are the manifestations of the Mother Goddess Shakti. The Chousath Yogini Temple, built in granite, is one of the oldest temples in Khajuraho. Set in an open courtyard on the bank of the Shivsagar Lake with small temples surrounding it, this one is the only temple which is not oriented due north south.

The Chitragupta temple is an 11th century temple dedicated to Surya, the Sun God.

Your guided tour concludes with a transfer back to your hotel in Khajuraho.
