Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Introduction to Town
Stop At: Azizi Life Experiences, RN1, Gitarama, Muhanga, Muhanga Rwanda
Arrival: We will meet you at the airport/hotel & drive you directly to the guest house in Muhanga (Gitarama) Town. There is then an optional short walk around the town if you wish to visit the area. You will then enjoy an evening meal at one of the local restaurants.

Accommodation included: Overnight at local Guesthouse. Basic but comfortable and clean
Day 2: Day in the Life of an Artisan
Stop At: Azizi Life, Gitarama Road, Gitarama, Rwanda
Experience the Life of an Artisan: The morning begins with a drive to a nearby village, where you will be welcomed by the ladies of the weaving cooperative. Then a morning of family chores begins. At noontime, you’ll share a simple local meal with your host family. After lunch, you will join with the artisan for an afternoon of weaving. Then it is back to the guest house to enjoy a cold drink.

Day 3: Pottery & The Palace
Stop At: The Palace of King Mutara III Rudahigwa, Rukari, Nyanza Rwanda
King’s Palace & the Potters: The potters are happy to do a demonstration & will even let you have go. Following a short tour of the workshop & kilns, you can stop by their small shop. Then off to Nyanza Town for lunch and a trip back in time to the King’s Palace.

Day 4: Brewing Banana Juice/Beer
Stop At: Azizi Life, Gitarama Road, Gitarama, Rwanda
Banana Juice Making: In the morning, you will work with your rural host to collect the green bananas & the leaves needed to begin the process. Next you will dig a hole and bury the bananas to ripen over time. After enjoying a simple meal with your host family, you’ll head into the valley to collect water. You will then peel, mash, and strain the bananas using traditional techniques, and voilà, you have made authentic banana juice.

Day 5: Drumming & Dancing then drive to Lake
Stop At: Azizi Life, Gitarama Road, Gitarama, Rwanda
Traditional Drumming & Dancing: Your Musical Experience begins with a mini-performance from a small troupe of traditional performers. Next, it’s your turn to put on a traditional costume and give it a try. You will have fun as the dancers teach you some basic dance steps and share a bit of the history of Rwandan dance. After some practice time, you put everything together in a performance of your very own. Then the drummers will teach you some traditional beats. Following this you will be driven through the winding hills of Rwanda to a small town called Karongi (previously called Kibuye) for a night by the lake.

Day 6: Boat Ride and Beautiful Lake
Stop At: Lake Kivu, Kibuye Rwanda
By the Lake: By the lake is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity it has to offer. We will arrange for one of the local boats to take you for a short cruise around a few of the small islands that dot the lake. For those of you that have the energy we can arrange a hike or if you prefer you can simply sit back with a cold drink & enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Day 7: Farewells, Shopping and Kigali Memorial
Stop At: Kigali Genocide Memorial, KG 14 Ave, Kigali Rwanda
Shopping and Farewells: On your last day in Rwanda it’s the perfect time to do a bit of shopping. We will then drive you back to Kigali airport / hotel. If you have the time we will accompany you to the Genocide Memorial or some other places of interest in the capital city, Kigali.
