Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Akagera National Park

Pass By: Akagera National Park, Rwanda
Upon arrival at the Kigali International Airport, you meet our driver-guide who, after welcoming note drives you to Akagera National Park to reach Akagera Game Lodge at evening. The park is located in the low altitude Rwanda, on border with Tanzania. The park is dominated scenically by the labyrinth of swamps and lakes that follow the meandering course of the Akagera River, this is an archetypal African savannah landscape of tangled acacia woodland interspersed with open grassland, lakes and wetlands

Day 2: Birding, game driving, and sunset boat in ANP

Stop At: Akagera National Park, Rwanda
After breakfast, start by searching the rare Red-faced Barbet around Akagera Game Lodge before we continue our morning birding and game driving and we can see Crested Barbet, Black-bellied Bustard, etc and we can see easily herds of Impala, Topi, Waterbuck, Zebra, Buffaloes, etc. We return at the hotel for lunch. At 4pm, we have the sunset bot to see hundreds of waterbirds and Hypos, Elephant (watering) and Crocodiles.

Day 3: Full day Birding and evening game driving

Stop At: Akagera National Park, Rwanda
We have birding and game driving trying Ruhuaha and Sooty Chats, Trilling, Croacking and Long-tailed Cisticolas. From 5.30pm to 8pm, we have the night game drive and we can see the Hyena, Leopard and nocturnal birds like Pennant-winged and Square-tailed Nightjars.

Day 4: Morning birding and game driving and transfer to Kigali

Stop At: Akagera National Park, Rwanda
After breakfast, we have our birding and game drive on the Lakes circuit, via Muhana to Kirara Plain. We shall Saddle-billed Stork and different species of Vultures. In the late afternoon, we drive to Kigali.

Day 5: Birding to Bugesera and transfert to Nyungwe NP

Stop At: Nyungwe National Park, Butare Rwanda
Starts birding at wetlands if Bugesera to try Payrus Gonolek and other waterbirds until lunch time. After lunch, we proceed to Nyungwe .

Day 6: Full day birding in Nyungwe NP

Stop At: Nyungwe National Park, Butare Rwanda
Nyungwe NP is a home to about 300 bird species among which 27 are endemic to the Albertine Rift region including the quasi endemic to Nyungwe NP, the Red-collared Mountain Babbler.

After an earlier breakfast, we drive to Bigugu to try Red-collared Mountain Babbler. After lunch we try Karamba trail until 5:30pm.

Day 7: Second Full day birding in Nyungwe NP

We have a 2nd full day birding in Nyungwe National Park

Day 8: Third Full day birding in Nyungwe NP

We have a 3rd day birding in Nyungwe NP to maximize a number of Endemic bird species to the Albertine Rift

Day 9: Half day Birding and transfer to Kigali

We have a morning birding at Rangiro road to try Regal Sunbird, Dusky Crimsonwing, etc. After lunch, we drive to Kigali to capture with the evening flight
