Dingle and Slea Head Drive Private Tour from Killarney

After hotel pickup from your centrally located Killarney accommodation, travel by private vehicle to the Dingle Peninsula. The coastline consists of steep sea cliffs broken by sandy beaches and is dominated by mountains that run from the Slieve Mish range to Mt. Brandon, Ireland’s second-highest peak. 

Heading out of Killarney past the Macgillycuddy Reeks, which boasts Ireland's tallest mountain, Carrauntoohil, your guide accompanies you to Inch Beach, home to movie sets including Playboy of the Western World and Ryan’s Daughter. Stop at this long stretch of shoreline and dip your feet in the Atlantic Ocean; it's a 'blue flag' beach, meaning the water, air, and soil are pollution-free.

Next, the coastal drive takes you through a Gaeltacht, or Irish-speaking region, until you arrive at the fishing town of Dingle, home to Fungie, aka the Dingle Dolphin, a bottlenose dolphin that has inhabited Dingle Bay since the 1980s. After a look around town, you're back on the rugged coastline for a tour along Slea Head Drive.

At an elevation of about 330 feet (100 meters) above sea level, the circular route looks out at the rocky Skellig Islands, once inhabited by Skellig monks; the 600 steps up the cliffside were featured at the end of the Star Wars film The Force Awakens.
