About this activity
You will be picked up at your hotel in Kingston. We will meet you in the lobby and provide a 5 minute summary of the tour, answer any questions and board the transport. Immediately upon leaving the hotel your tour guide will start providing information and history of the area and its landmarks. The first destination is Bob Marley Museum, where you will spend approximately 2 hours learning about the legend and seeing how he lived and played. The second stop is the Peter Tosh Museum for another lesson on one of the original Wailers, rebel and talented reggae musician. An hour (1) later, we will hit the road and take a drive through several of the urban "ghetto" areas to see and hear the artistic and musical talent of those communities. Along the way you will see the transition of the various areas that define the wealth of New Kingston to the poverty of Old Kingston. During this time period (about 1 hour), we will stop along the way for a quick snack and keep on moving to the next location. The National Institute, which showcases the "roots" of the Jamaican people and its musical origins. This stop should take around 30 minutes. From there we head to Bob Marley's studio which is the largest recording studio in the Caribbean. Here you will see and listen to memorabilia, musical equipment and the music history and songs of Bob. This is a working studio used today by established and upcoming musicians alike. This is a 1 hour stop. After the studio we head to our final location, the world famous Trench Town. This community is where Bob Marley and a host of Reggae, Ska, Rock Steady and Dancehall artists' musical talents originate from. Here we will stop for about 1 hour at Culture Yard to learn the stories of these musicians. Finally, 20 minutes later you will get dropped off at your hotel and escorted into the lobby where the hotel will be informed that you have arrived back "Safe and Sound".
