About this activity
The day begins with a pick up from the hotel in Kingston, a scenic ride through Jamaica's Blue Mountain takes you to the Maroon Village in Portland, which spans the World Heritage site, the Blue & John Crow Mountains. Travel by private transport along the countryside for approximately 2 hours and we have arrived at the Maroon Town, home to the Windward Maroons and descendants of Nanny, the only female heroine who led escaping slaves to freedom in the mountain. The tour begins with an introduction by your tour guide who takes you back in history on life during slavery and an informative tour of the Museum of artifacts.

After touring the museum, the local guide will take you to the village hall for a drumming experience by the the Town's people, for a dance experience of a lifetime, As part of the experience a delicious Maroon lunch will be provided, after lunch, explore the craft shop for souvenirs and healing ointments. The tour ends with an optional refreshing swim or bath in the river on property.
