We had a very enjoyable day - we did all the advertised activities, plus on the way out to the lake the guide spotted an elephant ceremony at a temple and we stopped for some great photos. The houseboat tour was very interesting and the lunch provided was excellent. It would have been better if we could have seen the nets working even a demonstration but I guess we were there at the wrong time of day.

This tour is an absolute must do when visiting Cochin. The backwater houseboat tour gave an enlightening glimpse into everyday life along the backwaters. The houseboat was very comfortable and the lunch representative of the flavours of Kerala. On return to Cochin the tour also took us to the city's highlights which was a perfect way to conclude a wonderful day.

Our tour provider was Carnival Tours. The guide and bus was waiting for us at the cruise terminal, he spoke good English and was quite knowledgeable. The bus was in good condition and the ride to the houseboat is approximately 2 hours. The houseboat trip itself is a little long as the scenery is mostly the same as you cruise the canals. The lunch served on the houseboat was an authentic Indian meal of fish, chicken, and rice and was very tasty in our opinion. The tour of Fort Kochi was about 5 hours long and we certainly enjoyed that also. We were taken to the sights that are a must see for most tourist. All in all it was en enjoyable day and half we would recommend it as a way to see and experience some of what Kochi has to offer.
