The palace has a fascinating collection of beautiful murals painted that depict scenes from the epics, Ramayana and Mahabharata, and some of the Puranic Hindu legends. The palace also houses Dutch maps of old Kochi, royal palanquins, coronation robes of former rulers of Kochi.

The Santa Cruz Cathedral Basilica at Fort Kochi is one of the eight Basilicas in Kerala. Counted as one of the heritage edifices of Kerala, this church is one of the finest and most impressive churches in India and visited by tourists the whole year round.

The huge cantilevered Chinese fishing nets that droop towards the waters like over-sized hammocks have become a hallmark that represents Fort Kochi on the tourist map. The fishing nets are thought to have been built 500-600 years ago as Chinese traders were initially exploring the southern coastline of India. The sight of the Chinese nets is undoubtedly one of the most photographed sights in Kochi.
