Tour #1 Attractions of Kochi.

The tour proceeds from the harbor to Fort Kochi. It is 30 minutes drive from harbor to Fort Kochi.

Stop at the beach where the Chinese Fishing nets are operated. We get chance to interact with the fisher men and they invite you to operate the net yourself. Please keep some small change to tip (optional) them later. Take photographs and wait to proceed to the Church of St. Francis.

It is a walk of 5 minutes from Chinese Fishing nets to Church of St. Francis. This is the first European church in India and also more importantly it is in this church that Vasco da Gama the sailor first buried before taking him to Portugal. The tour spends 15 minutes here and wait to proceed to the Santa Cruz Basilica.

You board the vehicle here to travel to Santa which is one of the heritages edifices of Kochi. You can get wonderful photos of the church both inside and outside of the marvelous building. 15 minutes.

From Santa Cruz Basilica the tour proceeds to Jewish Town. It is approximately 20 minutes drive from Santa Cruz Basilica to Jewish Town. On reaching Jewish town the tour will walk down the streets of Jewish town fascinated at the ancient Jewish settlement of Jewish community there. The community now is just 3 people who is sadly languishing here cherishing their rich and prosperous past. The town is preserved and buildings are now used for running shops which sell spices, antiques and artifacts to tourists.

At the end of these streets there is the ancient synagogue of the Jews here which held as the only 4 orthodox synagogues in the world. And is considered as the oldest in the British in the Common Wealth. The tour spends 20 minutes to visit the synagogue.

Next place of attraction is the Dutch Palace Museum. To which the tour walks( 10 minutes ) This is the preserved royal residence of Kochi royalty. Inside we can find the most beautiful murals in India elegant than the murals in Ajantha and Ellora. The tour spends approximately 30 minutes to visit this heritage building.

Tour # 2. Backwaters.Houseboat Experience.

This tour is designed to introduce Kerala and its attractice backwaters to travelers.

Staff of Excel India Tours after receiving you at the harbor by the side of the ship escort you to the waiting car/van/or coach.

An overland drive from the Kochi harbor to Alleppey Backwaters follows. This drive of 1 hour 45 minutes will give you an opportunity to understand this country and the way of people here. After which as the tour reaches the Jetty of the houseboat we board a pre arranged houseboat and start the backwater cruise for 3 hours. The houseboats are previous spices boats of Kerala innovated into houseboats for tourists with bedrooms kitchen and a spacious lobby. The kitchen of the houseboat under an enthusiastic Chef will cook for you our traditional food to your taste.

After the cruising along the backwaters and palm fringed rice paddies and tiny villages will be an experience you never have anywhere except here.

After the cruise the tour will return to Kochi (drive is 1 hour 45 minutes.) And you will be returned to the pier.
