Jeep safari through the wilderness of Thekkady

The 6-hour jeep safari will start from Kumily and you will be picked up from your stay to reach the venue. With an option of choosing the 5:30 am and 10:30 am slot, you can either zip for the jeep ride to catch the sun rise or go for a leisurely timing for your wild adventure. A driver and a multilingual guide will be around to lead you on this wilderness trail. And when the countdown begins, you gear up, the engine lets out silent roar and you will be off into the thickets of Thekkady. The verdant landscape of spice plantations, herbs and medicinal plants, tea gardens and the evergreen forests would add the zest of adventure as you ride past on winding roads in the open jeep. 

And just when you thought that the wilderness was tucked away in the far off thickets, you may see a herd of elephants crossing the way! Pause awhile to let your jumbo friends pass by and if lucky a close-up shoot would make your day! While you drive along the fringes of the Periyar tiger reserve, you may come across sambar deer, Indian bison, among the other wildlife which may come within easy sighting. A stretch of rugged terrain will challenge your spirit for the rough and tough adventure. While you drive along, you will stop by to enjoy the panoramic vistas of the hills and at another prominent view point offering a bird’s eye view of the Tamil Nadu plains.

 And, then you will hit the road again, wading through the thickets at stretches or tall grasses. The whirring sounds of your motor may muffle the cries and calls of the wild. But keep your eyes peeled and ears perked up, for you may sense a rustle, sight a spring in the trees…and somewhere lumbering would be a giant tusker… you will be on the pugmarks of the wild!
