Heritage Walk around the City Centre in Kolkata

We pick you up from the hotel at 07:30 am for a Heritage Walk around the City Centre in Kolkata. The first destination that you come across is the Espalande Row East. The iconic buildings have Doric facade that offers great visual appeal, giving you a glimpse of the fascinating past. From here the next stop is Tipu’s Mosque, which was built in 1842 by the youngest son of Tipu Sultan. The mosque is so designed that it depicts an amalgamation of architectural and cultural legacy of Kolkata. From here, head towards the Mahatma Gandhi Road and just at a little distance is School of Tropical Medicine.

The next stop of the tour is Mahajati Sadan, which is just behind the high school. It is an auditorium, which is used for social functions, seminars and for Bengali theatres. The foundation stone of Sadan was laid by Rabindranath Tagore.

From there you head towards Marble Palace, which is a magnificent mansion built under the patronage of Raja Rajendra Mullick. The next you will see Twin Shiva temples, which is 200 years old. From there walk past by Minerva Theatre and move towards Ramdulal Dey’s Nat-Mandir, which has remarkable structure.

Your walking tour proceeds towards Sovabazar Rajbari, which is one of the oldest royal houses of Kolkata. From there we move towards places near Shyambazar and the next street is, Madanmohantala Street.

Your next destination for walking tour is Siddheswari Kali and Gopeswar Shiva Temples; from here you move towards Chitpur Road that takes you to Kumartuli. It is a large colony of potters who makes clay idols of Goddess Kali, which are even exported to international countries.

At the end of the tour, visit Rameswar Temple. From here we drop you back to your hotel.
