About this activity
We start our tour with a visit to the Mother (St. Teresa) at Mother House. It is here that Mother Teresa lived, prayed, worked & guided her pious family of sisters. A drive through Dalhousie Square to explore (the Writer’s Building, St. John's Church, Governor's House [Raj Bhavan], General Post Office [GPO], St. Andrew’s Kirk, Dead Letter Office, Currency Building). We now head towards Belur Math the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Mission.Visit this temple to enjoy the tranquillity and serenity of the place. The temple is noted for its excellent architecture, which skillfully and artistically fuses Hindu, Christian and Islamic motifs together as a symbol of religious harmony.

We halt at Park Street for Lunch. After a scrumptious meal we proceed to Victoria Memorial, a magnificent and grand marble palace with beautiful gardens and a museum. We then head towards Princep Ghat, one of Kolkata's earliest recreational spots and a photographer’s paradise. This place is adorned with lush trees and expanse of green lawns. Get mesmerized by the sunset view, resting on the banks of the beautiful river Hooghly. As it is well said "There is nothing like a beautiful sunset to end a healthy day".

We conclude our tour at New Market, the fashion street of Calcutta. Walk around the New Market area to explore the spice shops and oldest tea shops of the city. You may explore the local street food like the Phuchkas (a hollow round chip made with flour, that’s filled with spiced potatoes and dunked into tamarind water before being served and eaten in a single bite), Aalo Chat (boiled potatoes with spices), Jhal Muri (puffed rice like rice krispies, fried dal, peanuts, random crunchy things, fresh chopped onions, a few bits of fresh tomatoes, coriander, a handful of masala seasonings, and a light drizzle of mustard oil to top things off). Experience a man powered rickshaw ride. You may also collect a few souvenirs as memento of the tour.
