Private Tour: Kolkata Sightseeing Including Mother House, University of Calcutta and Victoria Memorial
Next, head to the Jain Temple, one of Kolkata’s most-visited temples by both locals and visitors alike. Step inside the temple to see the intricate décor including stained-glass windows and pillars inlaid with small mirrors.
Then, a 10-minute car ride will take you to the University of Calcutta, one of the top-ranking universities in India. Walk the grounds to see its historical buildings while listening to your guide’s informative commentary about the university’s founding and the notable individuals who’ve attended the school, including laudable economist and 1998 Nobel Prize Winner Amartya Sen.
In between sightseeing, enjoy a delectable spread of Indian-Chinese fusion dishes for lunch at the popular multi-cuisine restaurant, Flavours of India. Then, visit the nearby Magen David Synagogue, one of the largest Jewish synagogues in the Asia Pacific open for public worship.
Afterward, head to Eden Gardens to see the largest cricket stadium in India. Home of the 2012 Indian Premier League champions, the Knight Riders, this is considered one of the most iconic stadiums in the country. Then, visit the Victoria Memorial, a memorial building dedicated to the UK’s Queen Victoria which now serves as a museum. Inside, see a large collection of paintings, sculptures and manuscripts from the era of British rule in India.
Finally, stop for a great photo opportunity of the Howrah Bridge, one of Kolkata’s most popular symbols and the sixth-longest cantilever bridge in the world. You’ll then be taken back to your Kolkata hotel.
Please note: Victoria Memorial is closed on Mondays. On these days, the tour will visit the Victoria Memorial Gardens instead.

The guide was excellent. So informed and we particularly liked the stroll through the back streets. The car locating us when appropriate was welcomed as it was a hot day. Be prepared for some walking. The flower market and the walk across the Hoogly Bridge were our own additions as the Eden Garden cricket ground was closed to visitors due to renovation.
Kolkata was a great place. The tour guide, Deepak, was friendly and knowledgeable and we even went to places which weren't on the list. It went very fast. I paid an additional 800 Rupees because my pick-up / drop-off was the airport. I ended up actually using the pick-up only as I asked to be dropped off at a mall instead - to meet a friend. It was rainy the entire day though, making it difficult to walk around some areas. Everything was as advertised, but I would have picked a better month to go there and I'm not a fan of the additional 800 they charged me.
Chandra did a fabulous job as our tour guide. We went as a bit of a lark as ive visited kolkutta many times as family live there. Her depth of knowledge was wonderful and she brought the motherhouse , victoria memorial as well as the place the religious statues were made, to life. Those were the tour highlights. We loved this tour!!!!!
The guide was good and knowledgeable. His boss, was very good in sorting out a misunderstanding with the details of the booking.
The tour rep, the guide and the driver were fantastic. We saw amazing sites, had a marvelous Chinese lunch, and enjoyed the day in Kolkata. The Jain Temple was my favorite place, but visiting Mother Teresa's sites were very touching and heartbreaking. We really got a great glimpse in a day of these fascinating city. I would recommend this tour to all
