Kolkata Tour: St. Paul’s Cathedral and Victoria Memorial

After pick up from your hotel a little before 9 a.m., start your tour in the metro city of Kolkata at Dalhousie Square. From the square, head to St. Paul’s Cathedral, and admire its beautiful stained-glass windows and Indo-Gothic architectural style.

Afterward, visit the Victoria Memorial, nestled amid lush gardens, designed in Indo-Saracenic Revivalist style (blending British, Mughal, Venetian architectural elements) and built with white marble brought specially from Rajasthan. It's one of India’s largest and oldest museum libraries which displays rich collections of memorabilia and paintings related to Queen Victoria and other aspects of Indian and British history. It also houses a wide collection of sculptures, paintings by celebrated painters, rare photographs, manuscripts, statues, and other historical treasures.

Your last stop on this tour is the South Park Street Cemetery, one of the earliest non-church cemeteries in the world, which was active from 1767 until about 1830. As one of the oldest Christian burial grounds in the city, it bears the testimony of many eminent citizens from Kolkata’s colonial settlers who lived and died here.
