The legend tells us that in Marija, in Strunjan, the most popular pilgrimage place in Slovenian Istria.

Izola is a small fishing village. It was built on the limestone island, and from there, its name is derived, the medieval center is well preserved. It was settled in Roman times, in the present-day Simonovo Bay hotel complex, a rustic villa and the Halietum port from Roman times were discovered. The former factory of processing fish and fish cans resembles a rich fishing heritage.
