About this activity
Blessed with an abundance of flora and fauna in almost all wind directions, the Sabah side of Malaysia’s Borneo hardly disappoints anyone with a soft spot for the beauty of Mother Nature. Set across one of the world’s oldest rainforests, nothing beats a scenic ride to the countryside with green fields, mountain ranges left and right, and quaint little villages. On this journey, we go deep into what has to be one of the country’s most affluent parts in terms of plants, flowers and nature trails – the Kinabalu Park tops the list for avid nature seekers and walking enthusiasts, with Mount Kinabalu towering majestically over its canopy. A must-do tour for guests who want to go deep into the forests, see what nature has in store and meet the floral world of Kinabalu Park from up close.

Meet your guide early in the morning at your Kota Kinabalu hotel. During the two-hour journey into Kinabalu Park, he/she will guide you through whatever passes your car window – from local villages to seeing the peaks of the mountain ranges from a distance. Via the Crocker Range and a stop at the Nabalu Market, a regional market for witnessing local trading techniques of fruits, vegetables, handicraft and souvenirs, we enter the UNESCO protected domain of Kinabalu Park. Reaching literally new heights on this journey, one immediately can notice the differences in temperature, the fresh, cooling air as you prepare following in the footsteps of your guide along the well-marked trails. Except a sensory overload of plant and flower species, along with numerous birds and butterflies that roam the tree tops throughout you walk. This morning ends with a local lunch at a restaurant at the end of your walk.

Relaxation comes in many forms and after lunch, one of the more soothing forms of feeling chilled can be found around 50 kilometres from our lunch address. The Poring Hot Springs gained its name from the tall bamboo plant, found in abundance around this natural hot spring. The calming effect of these healing waters will definitely work its magic on your mind, body and soul. Alternatively, guests can walk across the network of cable bridges and suspended paths across the canopy of this tropical side of Borneo. Reach heights up to 40 meters to get amazing views over the area. Bear in mind that to reach the canopy, one requires hiking for a good 20 minutes, but it will be all worth it!

We end the day with an air-conditioned transfer back to Kota Kinabalu and your booked accommodation.
